Kanata Lakes (southwest) is a neighbourhood of Ottawa, in Ottawa-Gatineau. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 5,137 living in private households. 70.7% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 26.4% across Ottawa-Gatineau as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 38.6%. 28.8% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.4% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 52.2% of the population, compared with 21.4% citywide. Median household income before tax was $164,000 in 2020, compared with $98,000 for Ottawa-Gatineau. 15.4% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 5.12 km², giving a population density of 1,002 people per square kilometre (Ottawa-Gatineau averages about 174).
