Gatineau (east-northeast 1) is a neighbourhood of Gatineau, in Ottawa-Gatineau. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,039 living in private households. 16.6% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 26.4% across Ottawa-Gatineau as a whole; the largest single group was Black at 9.2%. 79.6% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 3.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 11.4% of the population, compared with 21.4% citywide. Median household income before tax was $60,400 in 2020, compared with $98,000 for Ottawa-Gatineau. 54.7% of households rented rather than owned.
